About Us

We are Jim and Lucinda Leaman, a husband‑and‑wife team who have been making functional stoneware together since 1983. Our studio sits in the Catoctin Mountains of Maryland, where we create pottery meant to be used and enjoyed every day.
Jim manages the kilns and the behind‑the‑scenes work that keeps our studio running. Lucinda throws the pots and decorates each piece by hand. Our work is a blend of our skills, shaped by years of experience and a shared commitment to making practical, well‑crafted pottery.
Every piece begins with raw clay and is shaped, trimmed, glazed, and fired in our studio. We work with different clay bodies, decorating styles, and firing temperatures, choosing what best suits each form. The result is pottery that’s sturdy, functional, and made to last.
Our goal is simple: to make useful, well‑made pieces that feel good in your hands and fit naturally into your home. — Jim and Lucinda
